Lunenburg is adding another member to a program that recognizes outstanding accomplishments beyond the community.
Earl Bailly will become a prominent Lunenburger.
He was diagnosed with polio at age three and lost the use of his hands.
Bailly learned to paint by holding a brush in his mouth while in a wheelchair.
Mayor Rachel Bailey says his work is around the world.
“He was really quite well known for his work and you know, his advocacy for disabilities and what one can accomplish despite the condition your body might be in.”
Bailly will be recognized during the town’s birthday celebrations in early June.
His paintings can be seen in Lunenburg and around the world.
Other prominent Lunenburgers include Captain Angus Walters and Norman Byron ‘Dutch’ Mason.
