Elderly Man Dies In Port Joli House Fire

An 89 year-old man has died after a house fire today in Queens County.

RCMP along with firefighters from across Queens responded to the scene on St. Catherine’s River Road in Port Joli near 11 a.m.

A neighbour heard a loud bang then saw the house was on fire.

The man was found dead inside the home.

A woman, who was pulled from the home by a 25 year-old man, was airlifted to Halifax hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The fire is not believed to be suspicious.

RCMP, the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating.
