Since 1908, Maders Clover Farm Supermarket in Barrs Corner has been providing the people of New Germany and surrounding areas fresh produce, meats and other goods.
But as of next month, the iconic store will be closing it’s doors for good.
Owner Peter Mader says when he saw an opportunity to retire, he decided to pursue it, noting his employees have been wonderful over the years.
“I’ve given them their notice and they’re moving on, I think most of them will either retire themselves or move on to probably better employment than what I’ve offered them,” a humble Mader jokingly tells CKBW/Country 100.7 News.
Peter is the third generation owner of the store which was started up by his grandfather in 1908 and then taken over by his father following World War II.
And it’s certainly had a very long run in the community; 110 years to be exact.
Maders Clover Farm Supermarket will officially close its doors on June 16th, 2018.
