End of an Era: Stephen Colbert’s Late Show closes with iconic final performance

It was the end of an era last night. Stephen Colbert, who’s hosted CBS’s Late Show for 11 years, had his final show late last night. The show was cancelled by CBS officially for financial reasons, even though it was consistently #1 in the ratings. Many believe it was cancelled because of Colbert’s outspoken views on Trump and the parent company, Paramount, that owns CBS, though they deny this.

Whatever the reason, it’s been a major show, and now it’s come to an end. Over the past week, many celebrity guests appeared, but Colbert had a surprise for the final performance. Paul McCartney returned to the Ed Sullivan Theatre and sang “Hello, Goodbye” with Colbert. Check it out!

They then went on to literally shut the lights off in the theatre.

The end of an era!
