Students at Evelyn Richardson Memorial Elementary School had the day off.
The Clarks’ Harbour school was closed today because of a power outage.
The lights went out in Barrington, Cape Sable Island, Lower Woods Harbour and West Baccaro around 3 A.M.
Communications for Nova Scotia Power Tiffany Chase says winter conditions were to blame.
She says high winds caused the wires to connect and snap together.
“We d our best to quickly assess the situation and make required repairs or adjustments in order to restore power.”
Around 280 people were affected in the Barrington area.
Power was restored to all customers around 8 this morning.
