Fall Back means time to check Smoke Alarms

Clocks went back an hour this morning.

But how many remembered to check their smoke detectors too?

Chester Fire Chief Dave Richardson says daylight savings time is the best reminder to change the batteries in the smoke alarm because it happens every six months.

“It’s an escape route or safety issue for a lot of home owners to ensure their smoke detectors are properly working,” said Richardson.

“Especially on battery-operated ones.”

He says ideally smoke alarms are tested once a week.
