The past, present and future of an indoor athletic facility in Bridgewater will be discussed this week.
The HB Studios Sports Centre has been in operation, under the South Shore Fieldhouse Society, for 10 years off Glen Allan Drive.
Board member Melvin Skinner says an information session will show how the facility started, its challenges and needs from government and the community.
“We are a non-profit. We’re there to serve the community. Government funding is always important and it doesn’t matter where you put a facility it costs about the same amount of money. The difference is what you can charge and what the community can contribute.”
The facility opened in 2008 and includes an artificial grass field, a 60-metre sprint track and a 209-metre oval running track.
Skinner says they’re known as a soccer facility but they offer more than that.
“We have our daily seniors who are there walking. We support judo, football and baseball. Our biggest movement is to support seniors.”
The information session is open to the public and will be held Thursday evening at 7:30 at the facility.
