Fire Crews Making Progress On Nova Scotia Wildfires

Progress continues on the wildfire battle across Nova Scotia.

The fire at Seven Mile Lake in Annapolis County is about 395 hectares and 45 per cent contained.

Five firefighters from PEI will arriving today to help with the efforts.

Two vacant, seasonal structures are under protection at the Seven Mile Lake fire site.

Highway 8 remains closed due to active water bombing.

Elsewhere, fires at Ten Mile Lake, Maitland Bridge, Perch Lake and Round Hill are all 100 percent contained, ranging in sizes from 0.1 hectares to 21 hectares.

The Department of Natural Resources says fires in Greenfield, West Dalhousie, and Clyde River are now declared out.

The weather continues to look favourable with a mix of sun and cloud, a 60 per cent chance of showers and a risk of thundershowers in the afternoon.

The wind will gust up to 15km/hr out of the southwest.
