CKBW/HANK FM News can confirm the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre is involved in a rescue mission to locate crew members of a fishing vessel in distress. An official with the Canadian Coast Guard indicates their efforts are focused “quite a bit offshore” in the southwestern part of the province. There are reports five people were on board the vessel when they made a distress call before 6 o’clock this morning. There’s no word on the exact location of the rescue mission or the status of those on board. We’ll update this story as more information becomes available.
