Folk Harbour Festival Returns Thursday

In just a few days the Town of Lunenburg will play host to their annual Folk Harbour Festival.

Though it’s not likely to be quite as chaotic as last year’s which involved the Tall Ships and huge influx of visitors.

But Maggie Ostler, board member with the festival, says they’re feeling good about last year’s event and this one coming up.

“Our recent ECMA win sort of speaks for itself, we won the event of the year last year, so we picked up our little award trophy at the ECMAs and couldn’t be happier and we hope this year measures up,” says Ostler.

This year’s event promises to be just as big as ever and includes Central United Church as a new day time venue.

“We’ll be giving an opportunity for some of our headline performers to do a day time concert style performance in Central United Church where they get to take the stage for a 50-minute-set,” says Ostler.

As always, Folk Steps, a workshop component of the festival will return, this time the focus is on the blues.

Performers include the Ennis Sisters, Fred Eaglesmith, Martha Wainwright, Madison Violet, Old Man Luedecke, and Kim Harris.

The 33rd annual festival starts August 9 and runs through to the 15.
