Emergency services in Lunenburg County are joining together for the tenth year in a row to collect donations for the Interchurch food bank.
South Shore Paramedics, Bridgewater Police Service and Lunenburg County RCMP will be at the Bridgewater Superstore Saturday hoping to stuff their vehicles full of food for those in need this Christmas.
Paramedic Nicole Monaghan says the event allows emergency personnel to engage the community in a different way.
“This is a chance for us to do things together that are positive for the community. To let people see us when it’s not their worst time in the world, and it gives us a chance to give back.”
Monaghan says anyone making a donation also has a chance to win a prize.
“We have a few gym memberships, restaurant gift cards, hats, gloves. We’re going to do up some baskets and they’ll be already and the community can take a view of them when they drop off their donations.”
Around $60,000 worth of food and money has been raised over the past nine years.
Donations can be made at the Bridgewater Superstore, Saturday between 1:00 and 5:00pm.
