A forest fire continues to burn in Queens County.
About a dozen firefighters with the Liverpool Fire Department and 10 more from Department of Natural Resources returned to the scene in Milton around 6 a.m. this morning.
The fire is about 50 per cent under control – with flare ups and hot spots present.
DNR spokesperson Bruce Nunn says it’s now burned over 12 hectares of forestry.
The cause is unknown.
However, Nunn adds 99 per cent of forest fires are caused by people.
Crews are expected to be on scene the rest of this afternoon and evening.
The fire started around 5 p.m. Saturday evening – while Queens was under a fire ban – in a remote location that could only be accessed by air or boat.
