Forty jobs are expected to be created in Liverpool to dismantle two Canadian naval ships.
R.J MacIsaac was awarded the $39-million contract by the Department of National Defence.
Work is expected to start this spring at the Port Mersey Commercial Park.
Region of Queens Mayor, Christopher Clarke, says it should provide an economic benefit for two years.
“Whether they are employees of R.J MacIsaac who come down and live here during the week, whether they are local people who get employed, a lot of the money gets brought into the community.”
HMCS Protecteur and HMCS Algonquin were both retired from service in 2014.
They will be disassembled under Canadian regulations.
