The community of Walden is mourning the loss of Harry Eisenhauer.
The 87 year-old passed away early Tuesday morning.
Eisenhauer was a life-time member of the Walden Fire Department and was considered a hard working, family man.
Municipal councillor for the area, Wade Carver, says he remembers Eisenhauer for his years as a welder.
“He used to make homemade vices and I had bought one of them probably 35 or 40 years ago,” says Carver.
“You couldn’t buy a vice that was as strong as they were. They were excellent.”
In his obituary, it notes Eisenhauer spent most of his working years as a welder and crane operator, retiring from Scotia Trawlers in Lunenburg.
He is also remembered for having “a wicked sense of humor” and “loved a good game of crib.”
Carver says Eisenhauer was respected and offered help to people who needed it.
His funeral service will be Friday afternoon at 2pm at Mahone Funeral Home in Mahone Bay.
