Negotiations will resume for the South Shore Flying Club to lease the airport in Greenfield.
Region of Queens council voted 5-3 in favour of keeping the airport open.
President Glenn Parlee feels the two sides aren’t far off from reaching an agreement.
“The main thing we’re looking at is having maintenance on that facility, so anybody that’s involved in the use of that facility, should have some ownership of the maintenance.”
Mayor Christopher Clarke says the Nova Scotia Drag Racing Association, which also uses the site, will not be affected by a lease agreement with the Flying Club.
Clarke, Darlene Norman and Susan MacLeod voted against keeping the airport open.
Parlee says the group is looking at the airport as a future economic generator for the Region of Queens.
