The Bridgewater outdoor pool is being infused with new life.
O’Regan’s Subaru, the United Way of Lunenburg County and Bridgewater Barracudas Swim Club contributing $100,000 over five years to keep the facility open.
The pool was given one year of operation in January before the town evaluated its options.
O’Regan’s President Tim O’Regan feels the pool is a community asset.
“These recreational facilities are the future, they are not the past. They are not things we should be looking at closing, they should be the first priority at staying open.”
The town will make energy efficient upgrades including lighting and timers on water faucets.
O’Regan’s also receives naming rights to the pool for their $50,000 contribution. The United Way of Lunenburg County is donating $37,500 while the Bridgewater Barracudas will give $12,500, each over five years.
It’s effective in 2016.
