A home is in the works for a low-income family.
Habitat for Humanity is preparing to start building their latest affordable home in Bridgewater.
Chair Hank Middleton says Wednesday will be a big day.
“We’ll have a discussion on house design and modifications. We’ll have some important decisions to make in terms of our timeline and when do we put the foundation in.”
Middleton says a family will be selected, based on needs, at some point this summer.
The family, in turn, will have to put in 500 hours of labour and assistance.
Middleton hopes the overall experience will lead to a smooth build.
“We help one family at a time, we know it’s not a big thing but it’s a big thing for that one family and locally, its been five families.”
The home will be located on LaHave Street across from Nova Scotia Power.
Middleton hopes to break ground in the near future.
