Halifax men fined for visit to Queens

Two men from Halifax are facing big fines for spending part of the weekend on the South Shore.

RCMP in Queens have charged two men for non-essential travel outside their municipality.

The men live in HRM and were visiting a property in Labelle on Saturday afternoon.

When officers arrived in the area, two men agreed to leave but two others refused.

Police say the men are 38 and 39 years old and each face a fine of $2,000 for violating the Health Protection Act.

RCMP spokesperson Chris Marshall says the fine actually totals $2,422 a piece after all court fees are assessed.

Labelle is between Molega Lake and Ponhook Lake in Queens county.
