Hawaiian Vessel Stops In Yarmouth During Maiden Voyage To Canada

A Hawaiian vessel made her maiden voyage to Canada yesterday, and is now docked in Yarmouth.
The Hokule‘a has sailed 26,000 nautical miles over the last two years, and had never travelled to Canada.
It’s also the farthest point north travelled by the vessel.
The 41 year-old ship is on a worldwide voyage without the use of modern technology.
The crew plans to meet with local First Nations, and will give a presentation this morning at the Yarmouth County Historical Museum at 10.
A welcoming ceremony was held yesterday at Killam Brothers Wharf.
The vessel will be docked there for the next few days, and public tours will be offered today and tomorrow from 2pm-5pm.
