Environment Canada says a vigorous low pressure system is expected to cross the Maritimes Friday and Saturday accompanied by a strong cold front.
It says indications are that this system has the potential to give rain at times heavy which could result in localized flooding.
The special weather statement applies to much of Nova Scotia including the South Shore and Tri-Counties.
Right now, the forecast for Friday and Saturday is calling for periods of rain for both days.
