Heavy Rain Headed For The South Shore

It’s going to be a wet Tuesday across the province according to Environment Canada.

The weather agency issued a special weather statement over the weekend warning of heavy rainfall and the risk of snow and freezing rain.

Meteorologist Gelas Duguay says the South Shore shouldn’t see much of the frozen stuff.

However he says the rainfall could be significant.

“Twenty-five to fifty millimeters is quite probable and it could be significantly more than that. Some models indicate up to sixty [or] seventy millimeters.”

The storm is expected to start sometime before sunrise tomorrow morning.

Duguay says with that much rain hydroplaning can be a major risk for people on the road, and encourages those who must drive to take it slow.
