A house was heavily damaged by fire Thursday afternoon in Lower East Pubnico.
The bungalow was located at 66 Highway 3 near the Yarmouth-Shelburne county line.
East Pubnico Fire Chief Joe d’Eon says while he wasn’t at the scene, it’s his understanding there was a lot of damage to the roof and floors.
No one home at the time.
d’Eon says the cause appears to be careless disposal of smoking materials.
The call came in at approximately 2:30pm.
