It’s seventh heaven for Barrington’s Darren Hudson. The 36-year-old got back in the winner’s circle, claiming his seventh World Championship in logrolling during the recent event in Hayward, Wisconsin. Hudson defeated long-time arch rival J.R. Salzman in the final to re-claim his title that he lost last year. He says it was a great battle for the championship and adds, “When we got on that 13 inch piece of cedar, there was some white water flying and I heard him breathing and of course, I was excited too but I managed to stay on the log longer than him and c’est la vie three straight I took him and took care of business.” A full field of almost 150 competitors battled for the title, but in the end it was Hudson who returned to the winner’s circle. He says his seventh title is the sweetest victory besides his first world championship. Hudson will compete again for the Nova Scotia championship on Labour Day weekend in Caledonia. Another Barrington resident, Marcel Scott, won his second world championship in the boom run.
