The BMO Western Hurricanes have returned home from the provincial hockey championships with a silver medal. The local major bantam squad fell 4-2 to the Halifax Hawks in Sunday’s final in Cape Breton. The Hurricanes were down 3-0 heading into the third period before Cameron Jacquard scored a pair to cut the deficit to 3-2. But the Hawks, scored an empty net goal in the final minute to clinch the title. The Halifax club will now represent Nova Scotia at the Irving Oil Cup, Atlantic Canada’s Bantam ‘AAA’ championship tournament. The event goes from March 21-24 in Montague, PEI.
