Illegible Licence Plates On Police Radar

Plastic license plate covers are commonly used to protect them from the weather. However, many are difficult to read and that creates a problem for police. RCMP Corporal Greg Church says being able to read a plate is more important than you think. He says: “One of the most important parts of the vehicle of course is the licence plate. Its the only means of vehicle identification to police or other authorities and to the public in general.” Church says a plate thats unreadable is against the law. He says the issue is on the RCMP’s radar these days and fines can range from about $235. for a first offence to almost $600. for a third.
