Issue of Leaving Dogs in Hot Cars Continues Despite Warnings

Police say they’re continuing to receive calls about people leaving dogs in hot cars despite advising against it.

RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Clarke says they are however, seeing more public awareness about the issue.

“We see a lot more stores with signs in the windows encouraging people to bring their pets in the stores with them and not leave them in vehicles,” says Clarke. “I think that’s a great thing. It’s definitely encouraging people to not leave their pet in the vehicle”.

Clarke says people should think of their pets needs when they make the decision to bring the animal with them on a hot day.

If you see a dog in a vehicle showing signs of distress, you’re advised to contact police or the SPCA.
