A man from Italy Cross has been arrested for shooting a dog.
The incident took place near Highway 103 on Monday.
The dog, a Labrador/ Pit Bull mix, was taken to the local veterinary clinic by the family.
Its injuries were treated and it’s now home with its owner and is expected to survive.
Lunenburg District RCMP arrested a 46-year-old Italy Cross man and seized the firearm used in the incident.
He is facing multiple charges including careless use of a firearm and injuring and endangering an animal.
The man was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court May 2.
The investigation is ongoing.
