Municipal Awareness Week is being held to let residents know why it matters.
Chester Communications Officer Jennifer Webber says they’re hoping to see more local turnout.
“Some see it as even boring,” she says.
“So hopefully we get a greater turnout then we can have some greater interest and some engagement on some of the issues that Council is dealing with.”
Municipal Awareness Week is aimed at promoting the importance of municipal governments in everyday life, encouraging participation in council meetings and increasing voter turnout rates during elections.
Bridgewater will be holding a joint “Talk to Council” session with the Municpality of the District of Lunenburg on Friday at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.
Council members will also be talking to Bridgewater Junior High and Parkview students over the next week.
