The Health Services Foundation of the South Shore is replacing one of its longtime fundraisers. The Women’s Giving Circle is replacing Jeans and Gems after 16 years. The fundraiser asks 100 women to donate $100 to create a $10,000 grant for South Shore Health. Development officer, Bernadette Jordan, says it was time for something new. She says, “Jeans and Gems was one of the first in this area of the gala fundraiser, dinner, auction, silent auction and now there are a number of them. In order to continue to grow and to continue to raise much needed money, we just felt that we wanted to make some changes.” Jordan adds staff have been tasked to submit proposals, with a handful being selected. She says, “Those three or four proposals will then go to the women who donated the money. We will bring them all together one night and they will be presented and then the women get to vote on which proposal gets the $10,000.” The proposals have to do with patient care at South Shore Regional Hospital, Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital or their associated sites. The first Women’s Giving Circle will be held on November 5.
