‘Journey Room’ Renovations Planned For Spring

Plans will be finalized this month for the ‘Journey Room’ at South Shore Regional Hospital.

The Health Services Foundation of the South Shore raised over $155,000 to build the room.

A website will be created in April so people can see what the room will look like.

Development officer Bernadette Jordan says it’s exciting.

“Of all the hospitals in Nova Scotia, we’re only the fourth one to have one of these rooms. The fact that it’s completely paid for by the community, the fact that it’s completely staffed by volunteers shows that it’s a real community project that people can get behind.”

Volunteer recruitment should start before April.

The room will provide comfort, resources and theraputic services for cancer patients and their families.

Renovations are expected to start between May and June, with an official opening planned for October.
