Junior ‘A’ Lumberjacks Clinch Playoff Spot With Road Win Over Crushers

The South Shore Junior ‘A’ Lumberjacks are heading to the playoffs.

Logan O’Neil, Mitchell Arseneau, and Nicolas Tardif each had a goal and an assist to help the Lumberjacks to a 7-4 win last night over the Pictou County Weeks Crushers.

Connor McCluskey, Joe Bouchard, Cody Grant and McKullen Astill also scored and Ty Grant made 35 saves.

The ‘Jacks held leads of 4-1 after the first period and 6-2 through 40 minutes of play.

Head Coach and General Manager, Kyle McAllister, says every road game is a challenge but feels Pictou is a tough spot to pick up wins.

“Tonight they had 1200 fans and there was some good energy in there but our guys came out and had a really good start and capitalized on a couple opportunities,” says McAllister.

“I thought, for the most part, we played one of most sound games we played all year.”

The ‘Jacks play their final regular season game tonight at 7 p.m. at the LCLC against Pictou.

South Shore has clinched the third seed in the Eastlink South Division and will meet either Yarmouth or Amherst in the first round of the playoffs.
