The Salvation Army’s kettle campaign is going strong in Bridgewater.
It started on November 18.
The group has roughly 140 volunteers collecting money to help people in need at Christmas and throughout the year.
Major Wilson Sutton says that can mean many different things.
“Putting a Christmas dinner on the table, hampers, helping provide gifts for children, groceries; We’ve helped people put oil in their tank, with electricity bills; I’ve helped people with transportation to the hospital if they need it.”
Donations will be collected at seven locations around town from noon until 8 p.m. six days a week.
Sutton says he’s hoping to duplicate last year’s effort.
“Last year we raised $66,000 and change so it will be nice if we can make that mark or even $65,000 this year.”
The kettle campaign goes until Christmas Eve.
