King Street Businesses Get Behind Burgeoning Burger Joint

A sense of community is drawing business to King Street in Bridgewater.

After months of waiting the paper is coming off the windows Jac’s Burger and Shakes.

Owner Debbie Dorey says she can’t believe the amount of encouragement and help from other businesses since beginning renovations 11 months ago.

“The support has been amazing, amazing. So many people running businesses on King Street have come in, checked on me, seeing if I needed anything.”

Dorey says renovating the oldest commercial building downtown was a lot of work, but the location was worth the wait.

“The way the windows are, the way the arc was, the tin roof, it’s got to go back in time. I wanted a fifties/sixties diner and this was the space for it.”

In fact, she’s hosting a private dinner tonight to thank those who have pitched in.

Dorey says not only can she show her appreciation, it gives her staff a last chance to iron out the kinks before opening to the public tomorrow.
