Kings Orange Rangers Planning Major Re-Enactment in Liverpool

A major encampment and re-enactment is in the works for Liverpool.

The President of the Kings Orange Rangers, Owen Hamlin, says he wants to bring back focus on the history of the ‘Port of Privateers.’

In the 1770s, Liverpool was home to the second-largest settlement of Kings Orange Rangers in Nova Scotia.

The group helped fight off American Privateers and defend Liverpool in 1780.

Hamlin says the event would happen along the waterfront.

“We’ll showcase the military, the civilians and the new group that’s been formed in tradesman and mechanics who will show off all the skills of people at that time.”

Hamlin says hundreds of re-enactors from across Canada and parts of the United States are being invited to the town.

“It is an international event. The last one we held here in Nova Scotia, and actually the Maritimes, was in 2008 for the coming of the Loyalists in Shelburne.”

The event is planned for August 2018.
