LAMP Hosts Discussion Of World Renowned Pianist

Lunenburg is ramping up for the musical event of the season.

This weekend, the Lunenburg Academy of Musical Performance will be hosting one of the most renowned pianists in the world.

LAMP is presenting Martha Argerich in one of only two North American performances she will make this year.

Tomorrow night, as part of LAMP’s free “A Little Light Music” series, resident piano master Walter Delahunt will present a discussion around Argerich and her impact.

Artistic Director Burt Wathen says by offering something no else does, people will beat a path to LAMP’s door.

“When we look at programs, we look to see who is the best possible person out there and we try and get them – and we’re usually successful.”

Wathen says LAMP is gaining a reputation in the musical world.

“We have students from around the world who have flown in to work with this piano week. To work with Walter for a few days and then be around when Martha is here and master classes with Walter and Martha later on in the week.”

One hundred and fifty lucky people will get the chance to experience Argerich in the sold out concert on Sunday.

The talk tomorrow night is part of LAMP’s free “A Little Light Music” series and will begin at 7:00pm.
