The only swimming program for children with autism in Canada is looking for more participants.
Olivia Pitman, the Acting Aquatic manager at the LCLC says the program is designed around the challenges someone with autism may encounter.
“We do a lot of demonstrating and using pictures to get the point across,” says Pitman.
Instructors have all received training to teach the program and lessons are one on one.
Pitman says she hopes the program will be held nationwide in partnership with autism chapters across the country.
It is free for participants and there are lots of spaces left.
The program begins on September 25 and goes for six weeks.
