Liberal Budget ‘Blindsides’ University Students

Universities in Nova Scotia are being given a blank cheque to raise tuition fees.

The Liberals are giving institutions the chance to make a market adjustment for the upcoming year.

The cap on tuition fees for out of provinces students and for all grad students has also been lifted.

Canadian Federation of Students Chairperson Michaela Sam says they’ve been blindsided.

“That means not only for the upcoming year will tuition go up for those students, but for years to come….it’s going to be a huge harm for this province.”

The changes were unveiled in Thursday’s budget.

Sam says it’s making harder for younger people to attend university.
