Liberals call for province to pave Tin Mine Road

A road connecting Yarmouth and Shelburne counties is in serious need of repairs.

Highway 203, also known as the Tin Mine Road, was heavily used when Highway 103 was shutdown due to the wildfires.

Now the Liberals have created an online petition, calling on the Houston government to re-pave the road.

Leader and Yarmouth MLA Zach Churchill says it’s treacherous and needs attention.

“To get it to proper driving standards, so that we can have this alternate route in case of emergencies,” said Churchill.

He says people are putting themselves at risk when they travel it.

“There have been some repairs over the years, but the time has come to re-pave it. Otherwise, I’m really worried somebody is going to get hurt on it.”

After a cabinet meeting recently, Public Works Minister Kim Masland said the province would look into it.
