An awareness event for lighthouses in Queens County will be held this weekend.
This is the 2nd Annual Queens County Lighthouse Rally.
People will be given passports with maps to guide them to six lighthouses.
One of the organizers, Cathy Pincomb, says the beacons were an important part of local history.
“Villages like Port Medway and Port Mouton and Mill Village and Charleston are fishing villages of old and the lighthouses played a big part in development of those villages.”
The rally will be held for both days this weekend following last year’s successful event.
People can also participate in the best lighthouse photo of the rally.
