Liverpool International Theatre Festival Moves To Fall

The Liverpool International Theatre Festival is putting out calls for submissions after moving the event to the fall.

The biennial festival normally takes place every two years on the May long weekend.

However, Jean Robinson-Dexter, chair of LITF says the move to October may help broaden their volunteer and audience base.

“There are a number of families that have told us that ‘we’d love to be involved, we’d love to go, but we have other commitments on that long week,’” she says.

Theatre troupes from around the world have been coming to Liverpool since 1992 to compete, performing one-act plays for an adjudicator.

Despite the timing change, Robinson-Dexter says well-loved parts of the festival will return.

“We’ll still be having the coffee critiques, which are a great opportunity for folks to discuss the plays that they’ve seen, there will be lots of networking events, there will also be some professional development workshop opportunities.”

If the change goes well, the festival will likely be moved permanently to the fall.

LITF takes place from October 18 – 21.
