Lobster Sculptures Unveiled In Barrington

(This sculpture was created by Michelle Blades from Jordan Falls.-Facebook)

What better place to have lobster sculptures than in the Lobster Capital of Canada.

The Municipality of Barrington spearheaded a Canada 150 project and asked local artists to create the sculptures.

Ten were selected for public display.

They were revealed earlier this week at the administrative building.

The municipality’s community development coordinator, Suzy Atwood, says artists from Jordan Falls to Weymouth sent in submissions.

“The artists came through with wonderful designs. So we went through a selection process of picking ten. They are ten wonderful works of art for sure. It’s not an easy task, designing something on paper is one thing, but putting it to a 3-D object, like the fibreglass lobster, is certainly a task in itself.”

After February 16, the lobster sculptures will be taken from the municipal building and placed at ten locations with the Municipality.
