A gold medal performance for Sarah Mitton of Brooklyn, Queens County over the weekend at the U22 Eastern Track and Field Championships in Moncton.
She took first place in the women’s shotput.
Jaron Bolivar of Conquerall Mills won silver in javelin while Hudson Grimshaw Surrette captured bronze in the 1,500 metre run.
Also, Yarmouth’s Ryan Shay collected three medals.
Shay won silver medals in the para shotput and para discus.
He also had a bronze medal performance in the para 400 metre race.
In other track and field news, Josh Bell of LaHave won the silver medal in discuss at the 2016 Legion Youth Track and Field Championships in St. Therese, Quebec.
Overall, 38 athletes helped Nova Scotia win 10 medals at the event.
