A donation from a local business is helping the Greenfield Fire Department keep a roof over their heads.
Charlie Freeman from Harry Freemans and Son Ltd presented members of the department with a cheque for $15,000 Monday night.
Sue Conrad with the Greenfield Fire Department says the money will help cover the costs to repair damage done to the roof during the Christmas wind storms.
“There were shingles missing, pretty much in all different areas of the roof. It leaked down through into the ceilings and the floor had to be fixed.”
Sue Conrad says the money helps round out months of fundraising.
“Along with the $8,000 that we got back from insurance, I raised a little over $2,000 doing some online auctions.”
Auction items were donated by members of the community.
Conrad says the repairs were completed about a month ago.
And the department is thankful for the community support.
