Local Hairdresser Cuts Out The Middle Man

A local entrepreneur is running around the South Shore with scissors.

Theo Slaunwhite has spent 30 years working as a hairdresser in a salon.

After being laid off she knew it was time to take matters in her own hands .

She started Theo’s Mobile which provides hairstyling services in people’s homes.

Slaunwhite says it’s important for her that cuts are affordable and her service is convenient for people.

“Yeah, the elderly plus there’s a lot of parents like, young people out there that have kids that just don’t always find the time either to get out and get themselves a haircut.”

She says it’s easier than you think to cut hair in someone’s home.

“I have a little trolley. You know they’re pretty helpful in trying to find you a spot to put your stuff.”

Slaunwhite says while it’s never nice being laid off, she’s glad because now she loves being her own boss.
