Local Ice-Makers Also Showing World Class Talent At Junior Curling

The World Junior Curling Championships in Liverpool are showcasing some world class ice-making talent.

Graham Conrad, the man responsible for maintaining the ice at Bridgewater Curling Club has been tapped to ensure the ice surface is the best it can be.

Conrad, the Deputy Chief Ice Maker has previously worked the National Juniors in 2014 and the 2015 World Mens event in Halifax.

He says the long days leading up to the Championships are well worth the experience.

“It’s a good opportunity for me to take back what I can bring from an arena event, back to the club and just make my members happy I guess.”

Conrad says this is the third arena event he’s been involved with and he enjoys working with experienced ice-makers.

“I’ve already picked up a few tips, different scrape patterns and what-not that I’ll probably use at home.”

Conrad says for now, he and his team will be focused on providing the best conditions for competitors over the next week.
