Local MP Says ”Comox” A Lot – Open Parliament Website

The MP for South Shore – St. Margaret’s admits it’s unusual that her most-used word is a town in British Columbia.

However, she’s not surprised about saying “Comox” a lot during fisheries committee meetings.

An online website tracks what MPs say and how often.

Bernadette Jordan says it had to do with the closure of the Comox Coast Guard station.

“I’m actually doing my job in committee, which is to ask questions. I guess that’s why Comox came out. Now, we’re in Atlantic Salmon study and cod study, so I’ll probably be saying those words a lot in the next few months.”

She says she frequently talks about the South Shore but happened to say ‘Comox’ many times during the six week discussion.

“I looked at it and I went really? I mean, for all of the times I say things about the South Shore and Comox comes up. I actually found it quite humorous.”
