Two Lunenburg County paramedics have received exemplary service medals from the lieutenant governor.
Joseph Boutilier of Pine Grove and Darren Romkey of Lunenburg were among 20 paramedics to get the emergency medical services medal Monday at province house.
The paramedics had to display exemplary service in their field for at least 20 years.
The medal was created by the Queen in 1994.
It is part of a national recognition program for people who work in high risk jobs that enhance public safety.
Paramedics who receive the medal are either nominated by their peers or the public.
