Local School Up For National Music Award

On Tuesday night the winner of the CBC Classroom Musicroom Challange will be announced, some students from Centre Scolaire de la Rive-Sud are amongst the finalists.

Students in grades six, seven and eight from Rive-Sud filmed their rendition of River by Joni Mitchell, which they translated and performed a capella.

They have been nominated in the Junior Vocal Category (Grades 7-10), the grand prize includes musical instruments, a plaque and $3000 for the funding of music programming.

The competition aims to shine a light on all the great work being done in music classes around the country. In 2019 an estimated 50,000 students participated representing over 1,200 music classes.
