Local Softball Tournament Raises Roughly $20,000 for IWK Children’s Hospital

A local softball tournament has helped raise money for the IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax.

The Log-a-Load for Kids tournament happened recently at the Harmony Ball Fields in Caledonia.

Live and silent auctions were held and dozens of players collected pledges of at least $50 to play.

A member of the organizing committee, Rod Badcock, says there was great support for the tournament.

“We expect that it will be one of our better tournaments. It should be well over $20,000 and in doing that, we’ll be over $250,000 total funds raised since we started running the tournament back in 2005.”

Badcock says each year, the money goes towards different areas of the IWK including equipment.

He says they plan to host their 15th annual tournament in August of next year.
