Lockeport Hosting Workshop On Sea Level Rise

Organizers are hoping for a good turnout for an information workshop on how climate change is affecting our coastal communities.

It takes place this Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lockeport Recreation Centre.

Councillor Dayle Eshelby says DFO and the Ecology Action Centre are partnering with different communities to talk about sea level affects and adaptations.

“Then move into discussion about what local approaches can be taken to decrease risk of sea level rise.”

Eshelby says rising sea levels should be an issue of importance to everyone because the effects can be seen now.

“This is going to be affecting our communities more and more.”

She says DFO and the Ecology Action Centre are partnering with various communities to put on the workshops.

Eshelby says there’s a great web site….. http://www.sealevelrise.ca/
